Just to keep up the mellow mood, here are some supplemental sounds. From BT, “Every Other Way” keeps pace in what I consider to be a diet-dubstep remix by up-and-coming artists, Damn You Mongolians (or DYM) – although I still favor Armin van Buuren’s mix of it. Following that, I thought Enigma’s unoffensive wobbly take on Imogen Heap’s, “Hide & Seek”, would fit this three course meal well (even if it has been sitting out on the counter for about a year).
It’s Tunage Tuesday! Here’s a massive playlist for all you needing a quick but lengthy fix of new (and some old) tunes. It ranges from dubstep to electro to house to trance (nothing too crazy though, don’t worry) with a hint of ambient/alternative/pop. The track list is listed below. There are a few songs that overlap earlier posts, you should probably get over it though… Furthermore, a minute portion of these tracks [2] are YouTube rips because they’re not officially released yet. Don’t forget to rate, comment, and, of course, enjoy!
I haven’t posted much filthy dubstep on here, but this song starts with a really enchanted tribal sound then drops into a filthy dubby beat @ 1:50. Both parts are excellent.
Going back to the 90′s with this track, Wiley spits over White Town’s “Your Woman” while Hervé drops a nice grimy downtempo beat to pull it all together.
I meant to press this one a while back. Designer Drugs brings us another “ambitious club banger” with an interesting video to match (perfectly), plus they’re playing at UCSD’s Sun God Festival!
I came across this the other night – always diggin’ on CLASSIXX. Treasure Fingers add a bit more rat-tat-tat to the remix and a touch of jazz piano in the background.
This next track is one of Calvin Harris’ more recent singles (although it’s nothing new in blog time). It has a nice deep bass line and a catchy chorus but it can get a little repetitive after a while. Nero provides a more calm approach while Laidback Luke’s mix is a bit more synth intensive.
Brooklyn based Chimp Beams is an downtempo, electronic dub trio formed in 2001 by three Japanese men. It’s a rather dreamy CD, the first half is pretty solid while the rest becomes very downtempo/ambient, almost too much. Their music is a mixture of dub, breakbeats, jazz, and techno (you try classifying it!).
CD Highlights: “Menina”, “Brooklyn Dub”, and “Sleeptalking”
So I thought I’d just throw out some songs I’ve listened to this week, some new some old, hope you like ‘em!
Emancipator is unbelievably chill, his original stuff doesn’t have raps or lyrics, it’s all instrumentals, but I thought I’d post one of my favorite mixes of his
Hey, so its pretty late. I got my headphones on listening to music I downloaded earlier, it’s kind of hypnotic at this hour! I also noticed that I have 12 ‘drafts’ (posts) I still need to throw out here of artists and such that I really like. I’ll get to that, in the mean time here’s what I got playin’ fresh from this week and a few from way back.
I heard a really good remix of “Lisztomania” a while back (yea, the CLASSIXX version is epic but I like change when it comes to music) and this one keeps creepin’ into my playlists
