Melodica

I thought I’d go back to the roots with this post and start off with some good ol’ dubstep.

I like when artists are personal and outright happy to share their work. Big props to Datsik for the following statement:

Here’s some bootlegs I’ve been holding onto, kinda on the mellower side of things..Blast them out, upload them, share them, do whatever u want! :) Just enjoy!!

Much Love & Respect,
Datsik

Here are some of the “bootlegs” – The M83 track is put together so well!

• M83 – We Own The Sky (Datsik Remix) √++

MGMT – Kids (Datsik Remix)

Coldplay – Fix You (Datsik Remix)

For those of you looking to get a bit filthier with M83:

M83 – We Own The Sky (Udachi Remix)

Ellie Goulding’s bonus track, “Lights,” from her, well, “Lights” CD got a nice makover with the help of dubstep artist, Dream.

Ellie Goulding – Lights (Dream Remix) √++

I always joke about how there’s a dubstep mix of just about EVERY song out there, I’m glad there’s some legitimacy to that statement. Kidnap & Ransom bring us a jaunty dubstep remix of a classic anthem.

Gigi d’Agostino – I’ll Fly With You (Kidnap & Ransom Remix)

Goldhawks just appeared on my radar, but only for this remix, I’ll check out some of their other stuff soon. For now, enjoy this free banger.

Goldhawks – Keep The Fire (BAR9 Remix)

With Rad Omen’s debut EP scheduled to release toward the end of this month, they’ve released the HavocNdeeD remix on their site not too long ago. It takes the original down a pace while packing in some additional taps, slaps, and grind.

Rad Omen – Rad Anthem (HavocNdeeD RemiX)

Smooth flowing asian lullaby with an obvious dubstep twist from Caspa.

The Others – Bushido (Caspa Remix)

I’m really liking this downtempo-esc beat from Stimming, great to mix with for those DJing out there. It’s a very simple beat but I always find myself moving to it (it’s labeled under Dance on iTunes; Tech House on Beatport. But iTunes genres are broad and whack).

Stimming – Melodica √+

Heavy electro mix of “Burning Boys & Girls”. That’s all. Check it out.

• Martin Solveig – Burning Boys & Girls (TEEMID Remix)

For those of you looking for some house, I found this beat a while back. It’s got an uplifting synthed-out hook coupled with a moving beat and vocals strewn throughout.

• Red Carpet – Alright 2010 (Original Mix)

Heavy electronic beat, cool bassline to start it off. Vocals remind me of Chromeo, but then again I feel like a lot of artists lately strive for that sound.

• The Aston Shuffle – I Wanna See You

Danger! Dubstep!

Danger released his new EP yesterday (although it’s been available online for some time now). Here’s my favorite and, apparently, most popular track off the new CD.

Danger – 4h30

And some follow up Danger remixes

Sébastien Tellier – Divine (Danger Remix)

Sébastien Tellier – Divine (Danger Remix Radio Edit Instrumental)

Just recently came across this scratchy dubstep tune from Emalkay – has a great flow to it.

Emalkay – When I Look At You

Some select Rusko tracks for the taking

Bionic Commando – Bionic Commando (Rusko Remix)

Rusko – Soundguy Is My Target (ft. Lutan Fyah) (Reggae style dub)

Rusko – Scareware – Essential Cut

Here’s the full Caspa & Rusko “FabricLive 37: Caspa & Rusko” CD:

• Caspa & Rusko – FabricLive 37: Caspa & Rusko (Full CD) [145MB]

B-FORE & AFT+R

*So I’m amped on this update, it’s got some crazy slaps and grinding basslines*

I’m pretty sure most of you have heard this Deadmau5 track already, but nonetheless, it’s a fantastic dubstep remix by none other than Caspa

Deadmau5 & Kaskade – I Remember (Caspa Remix) (Epic)

An excellent wompin’ electro remix of a classic hit!

• Foreigner – Cold As Ice (Bastille Remix Shortened Edit)

These songs are pretty fun! I really enjoy the hectic pickups

• Buy Now – Body Crash (JFK Edit) (Similar to Crystal Castles – explodes @ 2:30)

U-God – Ugodzilla (Yuksek Remix)

• Andy Caldwell ft. Gram’ma Funk – Funk Nasty (Wolfgang Gartner Remix)

• Blatta & Inesha – Blatta & Inesha

Donald Glaude – BIG (Original Mix) (one of my favorite drops ever @ 3:11)

A Shout Out:

• Thieves Like Us – Drugs in My Body (Designer Drugs Remix)

For a chillout session, Booka Shade is great stuff~

Booka Shade – Night Falls (favorite)

• Booka Shade – Outskirts

• Booka Shade – Numbers

UNKLE is a collab effort with a dark, hypnotic sound thanks largely in part to DJ Shadow’s trip-hop style

• UNKLE – Unreal (love)

UNKLE – Bloodstain

UNKLE – Glow (very calming)

Overlooking

Hey, so its pretty late. I got my headphones on listening to music I downloaded earlier, it’s kind of hypnotic at this hour! I also noticed that I have 12 ‘drafts’ (posts) I still need to throw out here of artists and such that I really like. I’ll get to that, in the mean time here’s what I got playin’ fresh from this week and a few from way back.

An old favorite out with a new bit

• Deadmau5 & Billy Newton Davis – Outta My Life (Touch Mix)

I’ve also been bumping this song, I think it’s kinda cool, reminds me of the TRVS DJAM “Fix Your Face” remix CD, and I love Benny Benassi too so…

Pitbull – Now You See It (Benny Benassi Remix & Dj Shimik Ext) √++

Here’s what I keep playing as filler when I got nothin’ else to play (a good bridge/filler song)

Caspa & Rusko – Rock Bottom (Sweet dubstep!)

A little poppy action for you. It’s kinda weird – just heard it and thought I’d throw it out there

Feathers – Weird Dreams

My friend Viet showed me this group, Little People. Check out their whole “Mickey Mouse Operation” CD! Here are the first 2 tracks off it

Little People – Basique

Little People – Moon

I heard a really good remix of “Lisztomania” a while back (yea, the CLASSIXX version is epic but I like change when it comes to music) and this one keeps creepin’ into my playlists

Phoenix – Lisztomania (DSL remix)

One of my favorite Phoenix songs

Phoenix – Too Young

And as always, there’s that bit of room for my random chillout house electric yadda yadda…

BT – Every Other Way (Armind van Buuren Remix)

Imogen Heap – 2-1 (Murdok Dubstep Remix) (Great Chillout Dubstep)

Imogen Heap – Headlock (Joe Nemo 2010 Rework)

Snow In San Diego

Miike Snow took a lot of people by surprise in 2009 with their coolheaded indie electro-pop sound. Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, the band is comprised of singer/songwriter, Andrew Wyatt, and production team, Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, formerly known as Bloodshy & Avant. Miike Snow’s piano riffs have a floaty lullaby tone to them but, when mixed with the shimmery synths and steady percussions, the outcome is a catchy melody with a unique melancholic yet upbeat sound. After the release of their eponymous debut album “Miike Snow” in mid 2009, the modest trio continued to maintain a low profile amidst of great success and high praise after sweeping the blogs. The resulting variety of remixes that inevitably turned up online from names like Fred Falke and dubstep pioneer, Caspa, brought them even further on scene with a new energetic feel to their already hot tracks. If you like feel good music, please check out this band!
