Don’t Let The Name Fool You

Came across this artist through his stellar remix of Kaskade’s “4 Am”. I just gave his whole CD a listen through and it’s pretty catchy and works great as background music with it’s tight hip-hop beats. This guy came to fame through his live performances using an MPC (drumpad machine), upon which he’s phenomenal! I posted a video below of a live performance he did in Warsaw using samples of sir Skrillex. The album is best toward the end, in my opinion (I first listened to it reverse order). My picks: “Streetz Tonight” and “Lost In A Maze”

Got a fresh mash-up by Basic Physics that combines some big chunes from artists, Mord Fustang, Daft Punk, and Mike Posner. This one’s shown to be a hit on Turntable.fm (which you should also check out).

Basic Physics – Don’t Lick the Rainbow (Mike Posner vs Mord Fustang vs Daft Punk) √+

Flatland Funk and Tory D provide us with a catchy hip-hop beat with some heavy hitting bass and scratchy wobbles. Bumpin’ beat @ 2:22!

Flatland Funk, Tory D – Lose Control (Lazy Rich & Robb G Remix)

You may recognize this one from Pulp Fiction’s infamous soundtrack. Another great dubstep re-work. I’m really diggin’ the slower tempo WhiteNoise opted to go with in this remix.

Nancy Sinatra – Bang Bang (WhiteNoise Remix) √+

I was incredible stoked to get my hands on emancipator’s newest album today. Glad to see he’s finally released a full-length album full of remixes of his original work.

Taste The Rainbow

What a great week for new music! I’ve come across a slew of stellar tracks that should bring dubPhonics back to speed. As you may have notice, I’ve been a bit behind here, just nothing new/unique has really presented itself lately.

Jakwob’s latest brings together hip-hop and dubstep, a great change up from his typical style.

Jakwob – Right Beside You √+

Upcoming artist of the year? I’ve heard that stated a few times on the interwebs about Mord Fustang. He’s is certainly making a good name for himself! Dance enticing heavy electro, splash of wobble.

Mord Fustang – Lick The Rainbow (Original Mix)

Mord Fustang – The Electric Dream (Original Mix) √+

Mord Fustang – Super Meat Freeze (Original Mix) √++

I’ve never gotten into Basshunter (a little too Euro for me), BUT Fonzerelli kills it in this remix! I’m loving this track! As a bonus, I thought Bob Sinclair’s lively nu-disco bomb would fit well alongside it. Thanks NaveeDJ for sharing these two, certainly bringin’ in the always appreciated funk!

Basshunter – All I Ever Wanted (Fonzerelli Remix) √+

Bob Sinclair – Fuck The Disco (Original Mix)

YES, YES, YES! Feed Me rocks the effin’ sh*t out of this track! My girlfriend walked in on me playing this and I had to quickly turn on some porn to ease the tension – it’s that dirtyyy.

Nero – Innocence (Feed Me Remix) √++

I dunno if you’ve heard or care (you should) but Skrillex had his laptops and external hard drives stolen out of his hotel room a few weeks back. ALL of his upcoming work towards releasing his next full length album is lost… sigh.

Deadmau5 – Pixel Cheese (Skrillex Remix)

A Swedish House Mafia track featuring John Martin of Miike Snow? Believe it!

Swedish House Mafia – Save The World (ft. John Martin) (Original Mix)

There’s always room for some D’n’B. This one steps on the gas a bit.

Futurebound vs. Metrik – Brave New World (Original Mix)

I’m incredibly happy with ATB’s latest 2 CD release – full of potential hit singles as well as a much calmer second CD that underlines the artistic complexity of the group. Enjoy!

Another CD I’ve lined up for you is George Acosta’s “Visions Behind Expressions”. I was curious (around this time last year, after publishing this post) when this was gonna be officially released. I found it by surprise the other, really liking it too!

George Acosta – Visions Behind Expressions (Full CD) [173 MB] √+

You can bet your firstborn that I’ll be posting up on Feed Me’s upcoming album, “Feed Me To the Stars”! It sounds incredible so far! The ending of “To the Stars” is crazy – although it is cutoff. Be sure to listen all the way till the end, or skip to it! Check out their preview mix on their soundcloud:

Dubstep

Want some w-w-w-womping bass; some grimy, face-smashing grind? This here, is dubstep.

Shock One – True Believer (Ft. Metrik & Phetsta) [Phetsta Dubstep Mix] √+

Figured I’d just throw a few of these mixes at ya as well:

The Cataracs – Bass Down Low (Proper Villains Remix)

• The Cataracs – Bass Down Low (Halo Nova Remix) (YouTube rip @ 128)

^ Cool break-beat/8-bit pick-up @ 1:08 ^

I love melancholy, rainy day dubstep tracks like these two. Something about its smooth-swaying, slow wobbling dub, and whispering vocals that allows me to close my eyes, tune out and just chill (with my new ATH-M50s headphones, Mmm…)

Skream – Where You Should Be (feat. Sam Frank) √++

• Shorterz & Enigma ft. Little Palm – Rag Doll

Electronic / House

Tiësto, recently named “Greatest DJ of All-Time” by Mixmag, combines forces with fellow Dutchman and fast rising star, Hardwell. Their collaboration here on “Zero 76” is a monumental production, fusing each artists’ style to create an early contender for tune of 2011.

Tiësto And Hardwell – Zero 76 (Original Mix)

Gramophonedzie is known for their rather big band/dance hall sorta sound. They’ve remixed this track with a cool fusion of funky electro sounds and that brand of reserved nu-disco, a combo that works out to a pretty good tune.

• The Young Punx ft. Count Bass D – Ready For The Fight (Gramophonedzie Remix)

Drum & Bass

A few months ago, I brought you all another much more mellow version of this track here. Today, I’ve got a drum & bass remix by Logistics that brings a much higher energy to the track.

The Dubbiest Of Cocktails

It’s been a while since I’ve brought you all an update on one of my favorite dubstep artists, MiM0SA. First off, this guy’s individual remixes are the hardest things to find! Preview all you want on his Soundcloud page but don’t expect to find anything online above a 128kbps YouTube rip. Shame, cause I love his work and I’m a greedy person in my quests for music! He’s on tour right now and after watching him play at Coachella 2010 on the Do Lab Stage, there’s no possibility of me missing him when he passes through here in San Diego. His music reminds me a lot of a Pretty Lights equivalent in the dubstep genre. The Silver Lining CD brings an itchy sounding dub that flows well with the dreamy/shimmering beats that will help put you at ease. The following CD, Your Love, is, simply put, more of the same (“Your Love” has been poppin’ up a lot in my playlists). Some seriously chilled out dubstep here everyone. Enjoy!

MiM0SA – Silver Lining (Full CD) [50 MB]

MiM0SA – Your Love (Full CD) [14 MB]

Of course, I can’t talk up his remixes without puttin’ out! Here are some of the better mixes of his I have in my library (each @ 128kbps, but √+):

Tupac – Still Ballin’ (MiM0SA Remix)

Sébastien Tellier – Roche (MiM0SA Remixxx)

This is easily one of my favorite remixes/songs of his. I finally found it for sale on his bandcamp page, bought it in FLAC, and converted it to 320 – although it’s still showing up as a low quality recording (~192) oh well :T

• Télépopmusik – Breathe (MiM0SA Remix)

For more MiM0SA, check out my other posts here on dubPhonics!

Last Night

Lost your friends? Lost your phone? No idea how you’ll get home? Ian Carey feels your pain. This song closely resembles David Guetta’s house sound (for those not familiar with Ian Carey’s own pop-house sound). Pair it with the lyrical flows of Snoop Dogg and Bobby Anthony and you’ve got yourself one a great party track!

Ian Carey – Last Night (Extended Mix) [Feat. Snoop Dogg & Bobby Anthony]

Get Down With Uppermost

We got some new grimy goods from Bassnectar (although it’s not very new, just decided to throw it up here) and if you guys are really looking to get filthy, Doctor P and Zeds Dead are serving up some wompy remixes that should satisfy the dirtiest of tastes √+

Bassnectar – Wildstyle EP (Full CD) [82 MB]

• Blame – Star (Doctor P Remix)

• Plan B – Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix) (metal jam at the end?)

• Zeds Dead – Rude Boy

• Zeds Dead – Rude Boy (Mr. Vega Angry Bass Monster Remix) (plays well following the original above)

Keeping up with glitch-steppin’ Skrillex, he’s got some new funky wompin’ beats for our enjoyment.

• Skrillex – Cat Rats

Course, when I heard Danger had a mix of Nero’s “Me & You”, I was all over it. Kind of funny though, sounds a bit cheesy with a beat and synths sounding like they were ripped straight from the 80s. Love it.

• Nero – Me & You (Danger Remix)

Uppermost has been stealin’ the show here lately with his huge sound – as you may have noticed in his “Cake Shop Is Dope” track I posted up earlier. So, as per request, I’ve uploaded an 8-track compilation for all you electro/bass-heads out there, just his work though, no remixes. I’ve found it sounds a lot like Glitch Mob meets Wolfgang Gartner meets Skrillex – with a hint of trance here ‘n’ there. But it doesn’t matter how I describe it, cause you ought to just download the comp! Another note to you impatient types out there, a lot of these songs break off into brief but oh so welcome breakdowns/transitions (“Sound Box” drops into an awesome deep-house beat @ 3:00), but you’ll see for yourself soon enough. A Massive Check Plus goes to this one!

Uppermost – Compilation (Full CD) [120MB] √+++

Ellie Goulding – I thought I’d heard it all, then I heard this chipmunk cover of her “Lights!” track. I seldom post hip-hop, but I really liked the beat on this one.

• Ellie Goulding – Lights! (Potomac Boys Club Remix)
