Dubstep

Want some w-w-w-womping bass; some grimy, face-smashing grind? This here, is dubstep.

Shock One – True Believer (Ft. Metrik & Phetsta) [Phetsta Dubstep Mix] √+

Figured I’d just throw a few of these mixes at ya as well:

The Cataracs – Bass Down Low (Proper Villains Remix)

• The Cataracs – Bass Down Low (Halo Nova Remix) (YouTube rip @ 128)

^ Cool break-beat/8-bit pick-up @ 1:08 ^

I love melancholy, rainy day dubstep tracks like these two. Something about its smooth-swaying, slow wobbling dub, and whispering vocals that allows me to close my eyes, tune out and just chill (with my new ATH-M50s headphones, Mmm…)

Skream – Where You Should Be (feat. Sam Frank) √++

• Shorterz & Enigma ft. Little Palm – Rag Doll

Electronic / House

Tiësto, recently named “Greatest DJ of All-Time” by Mixmag, combines forces with fellow Dutchman and fast rising star, Hardwell. Their collaboration here on “Zero 76” is a monumental production, fusing each artists’ style to create an early contender for tune of 2011.

Tiësto And Hardwell – Zero 76 (Original Mix)

Gramophonedzie is known for their rather big band/dance hall sorta sound. They’ve remixed this track with a cool fusion of funky electro sounds and that brand of reserved nu-disco, a combo that works out to a pretty good tune.

• The Young Punx ft. Count Bass D – Ready For The Fight (Gramophonedzie Remix)

Drum & Bass

A few months ago, I brought you all another much more mellow version of this track here. Today, I’ve got a drum & bass remix by Logistics that brings a much higher energy to the track.

M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade – Donut (Logistics Remix)

Accelerate

A cool tribal-esk, floaty song done by CFCF to start this post off

CFCF – You Hear Colours

The Black Ghosts are amazing – this song truly exhibits their unique sound in so many ways

• The Black Ghosts – I Want Nothing (Extended Mix) (love)

Two version of Dadahack’s newest track “Hello”

• Dadahack – Hello Dust feat. Hannah Robinson

• Dadahack – Hello (instrumental)

This La Roux remix starts as a bassy atmospheric dub. However, it picks up into a fast paced breakbeat rhythm toward the end

• La Roux – In For The Kill (Skream’s Let’s Get Ravey Mix)

Some nu-disco sounding tracks. I haz soft spot for Fred Falke

• Grizzly Bear – Two Weeks (Fred Falke Extended Remix)

Heavinz – Ride (Matt Hughes Remix) (old favorite)

More breakbeats from Chip Chop who just released their debut five-track EP, “Launch Blank,” today

Chip Chop – Launch Blank

Chip Chop – Puking Rainbows (I actually bought this off iTunes, weird)

Chromeo fans might enjoy this song from Ocelot

Ocelot – Our Time (Treasure Fingers Remix)

Bottle What You Got

The Black Ghosts are simply 2 guys: former Simian Mobile Disco vocalist, Simon Lord, and Wiseguy’s programmer/multi-instrumentalist, Theo Keating, aka DJ Touche. Mixing together a 1970’s AM pop music sound with heavy synthesizers, most of their popular tracks have undergone catchy remixes from artists like Boy 8-Bit, Plastician & Skream, and Fake Blood. Their song “Full Moon” also appeared in Twilight. While I found the rest of the CD to be predominantly meh, these songs, however, all have a high play count in my library and continue to please. Also, take the time to watch the videos below as well, they’re very well done and strike a nostalgic chord with me (LEGO FTW!) Enjoy!

The Black Ghosts – Anyway You Choose To Give It

The Black Ghosts – Full Moon

The Black Ghosts – Some Way Through This

Awesome Remixes!

The Black Ghosts – Anyway You Choose To Give It (Boy 8-Bit Mix)
