George Acosta Called…

…and he wants his beat back. Ian Carey’s party hit, “Last Night (feat. Snoop Dogg & Bobby Anthony)” was recently mixed by Spencer & Hill and the moment I heard it, I was rather surprised by it’s similarity to George Acosta’s “True Love (Gerry Cueto ASOT Mix)” – which I ripped myself from the “A State Of Trance Episode 442” 2-hour mix – it’s that good! I only noticed cause I friggin’ love the hard drop in “True Love” (around 2:55 in) and I had to say something. Where can I go to bitch about trivial nonsense? Oh right, my blog… Both are great songs though, regardless.

• Ian Carey, Snoop Dogg, Bobby Anthony – Last Night (Spencer & Hill Remix)

• George Acosta – True Love (Gerry Cueto ASOT Mix) √++

It was brought to my attention that there might be a chain of rip-offs going on here as Wolfgang Gartner’s, “Fire Power”, too, has a similar bassline.

Wolfgang Gartner – Fire Power (Original Mix)

Thank God It’s FriDub

I’m really liking this dark, dreamy mix of Clare Maguire’s, “The Last Dance”.

Clare Maguire – The Last Dance (Chase & Status Remix) √+

New to the Pretty Lights Music Record Label, Paper Diamonds takes a hint from The Glitch Mob and has produced a similar sound that’ll definitely be bangin’ through my speakers for a while! Get their full CD at the Pretty Lights website, along with a few other new artists of under their label.

• Paper Diamond – Imagine the Possibilities √+

Wolfgang Gartner released this lively dub mix of “I Will Be Here” – sounds more like the work of Kaskade than Tiësto, in my opinion…

• Tiësto & Sneaky Sound System – I Will Be Here (Wolfgang Gartner Dub Remix)

The original track has Spanish vocals but I didn’t think it’d fit well on here (I kind of like them though), so here’s the instrumental mix. It has its moments.

• Dr. Kucho! – La Tarde Se Ha Puesto Triste (Instrumental)

Ken Loi stepped on the gas to pump out this charged-up, heavier electro remix of “Only You”.

• Kaskade & Tiesto feat. Haley – Only You (Ken Loi Remix)

For those of you nostalgic for the 80’s, toward Eurythmics in particular, Avicii has your fix with his take on “Sweet Dreams” (a 3 track zip follows after the link).

And just for fun, here’s Alex Metric and Steve Angello with a bit of electro-funk

It’s Tunage Tuesday! Here’s a massive playlist for all you needing a quick but lengthy fix of new (and some old) tunes. It ranges from dubstep to electro to house to trance (nothing too crazy though, don’t worry) with a hint of ambient/alternative/pop. The track list is listed below. There are a few songs that overlap earlier posts, you should probably get over it though… Furthermore, a minute portion of these tracks [2] are YouTube rips because they’re not officially released yet. Don’t forget to rate, comment, and, of course, enjoy!

Hauntober!

Alright I got a good mix coming your way today, with the help of some friends :] including a few new club banger tracks and a CD start your week off with…

Of course, with my absence on here, I’m a little behind in bringing you some new big tracks from the likes of Wolfgang Gartner! His new bit is pretty damn tight, oozing his trademark glitchy-haunted style out of every note. Definitely gonna be hearing this one mixed in just about every house mix in the coming weeks.

• Wolfgang Gartner – Illmerica (Extended Mix) √++

Keeping up with the dark sound, I heard this wompy dubstep mix of CocoRosie’s “Werewolf” and I honestly get chills to how wicked it sounds! (And if you’re wondering like I was, she does sing, “Yea I suck dick,” ha).

• CocoRosie – Werewolf (Omega Remix)

Zeds Dead is making a pretty good name for themselves in the dub scene. I gave you taste of their work a while back with their epic remix of Blue Foundation’s “Eyes On Fire”. I figured they deserve some better recognition, on here at least, for their grimey, wompin’ beats! Here’s to, what I feel is, a great sampler: √++

• Dragonette – Volcano (Zeds Dead Remix) (love the chorus @ 2:00)

• Zeds Dead – White Satin

• Radiohead – Pyramid Song (Zeds Dead Illuminati Remix)

• Massive Attack – Paradise Circus (Zeds Dead Remix)

Speaking of Massive Attack, I came across this amazing (non-dubstep) remix of “Paradise Circus”. Very ambient/down-tempo, lovin’ it.

• Massive Attack – Paradise Circus (feat. Hope Sandoval) (Gui Boratto Remix) √++

So I meant to post this guy a few weeks back, no sense in not, right? Wait for the sweet electro drop @ 2:23, it’s electro at its best, imho. (Thanks NaveeDJ for showin’ me this one)

• Felguk – Side By Side (Felguk Intro Mix)

A few months back, Laidback Luke quietly released a very tight (less effeminate than the original) electro/Dutch mix of Bellatrax’s “I Can’t Help Myself”. It’s got a great build throughout the song.

• Bellatrax – I Can’t Help Myself (Laidback Luke Remix)

Keeping up with the infamous Skrillex, he’s got a newish track out, mixing vocals with his unique style, blasting hectic drums beats at you, then he drops the womps on you, and trust me they drop!

• iSquared – Hey Sexy Lady (Skrillex Remix)

Romanian musician, Edward Maya, released this piece as his first single last year (Oct 2009) and it apparently was a pretty big hit across Europe (reaching #1 on over ten charts, only #93 on the US’). I’d never heard it till recently, but I thought it was kind of a nice refreshing track with a interesting incorporation of an accordion that truly makes this a unique song amongst the progressive house genre.

• Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – Stereo Love ft. Alicia (Extended Mix)

Breakbeat masters Stanton Warriors got their hands on Sub Focus’ track “Rock It”. They certainly do! It has the typical high energy sound of breakbeats with a twist that resembles Daft Punk’s “Discovery” CD (think “Aerodynamic”).

• Sub Focus – Rock It (Stanton Warriors Edit)

The new Magnetic Man self titled album is pretty tame in terms of the dubstep genre’s unbound sense of experimentation, and it’s certainly no attack on the charts (perhaps exempting “I Need Air”) – despite the supergroup’s individual potentials and the presence of vocalists including Katy B. However, that’s not to say there aren’t some great tracks to keep you listening all the way through (most of it is instrumental btw). I really enjoy it as a sort of background beat (for the rainy weather here). So give this one a listen, but make sure you have a subwoofer of some sort, otherwise you’ll just find yourself in a lot of treble (ha).

Magnetic Man – Magnetic Man (Full CD) [156MB]

Feed Off My Stimuli

First up, I present you a BIG track found only in your wildest dreams! Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner teamed up on this piece. Their sound has long been said to resemble one another’s so it only makes sense for them to bring you “Animal Rights”. (I was holding off from posting this as credit goes to NaveeDJ for showing it to me prior to Beatports’ newsletter, but there are connection problems on his end and I didn’t want to keep a tasty bit like this from y’all!)

Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner – Animal Rights (Original Mix) √++

This track is a bit dated (circa 04/2010…years in blog terms) but every time I listen to it, I get a heightened sense of enjoyment out of it’s electro, dutch house style!

• Stafford Brothers ft. Seany B – Speaker Freakers (LA Riots Remix)

Speaking of Dutch house, Afrojack dropped his newest beat, “Take Over Control” with an awesome (off-key) dubstep remix by Adam F. This song is sex.

• Afrojack ft. Eva Simons – Take Over Control (Adam F Dubstep Remix) √++

We’ve been showing a lot of love to Valerna on here and for good reason. I’ve really enjoyed this bubbly electro remix of Juelz Santana’s “Clockwork” by Valerna (bumpin beyond my laptop speakers no doubt).

• Juelz Santana – Clockwork (Valerna Remix)

Mika’s “Relax” gets sort of a dark touch up by Nystrand; tight dubby beat.

• Mika – Relax (Nystrand Electro Remix)

So, remember the 90’s? That time when music had a feeling of canned fun. Well to reminisce, here’s a cheesy amazing remix of Spin Doctors’ “Two Princes”. If you for some reason don’t smile to this, you are made of stone. Get excited! (I even made a new rating for it – The Cheese Award!)

Topmodelz – Two Princes (Paramond Remix)

And finally, get your party started with this fine electro banger by Feed Me (brought to you by NaveeDJ).

• Feed Me – The Spell √++

Shaking Like Tremolo

Check out this awesome new electro house beat from BetaTraxx; reminds me of Wolgang Gartner’s wicked track, “Undertaker

• BetaTraxx – Mafiosa

Speaking of Wolfgang Gartner, I came across this CLASSIXX remix (perhaps a bit late) and thought how can you go wrong with this incredible duo? It’s followed by his #1 track on BeatPort, friggin awesome!

CLASSIXX – Cold Act Ill (Wolfgang Gartner Monster Mix)

Wolfgang Gartner & Mark Knight – Conscindo (Original Club Mix) √+

I discovered Valerna the other day when I came across this clean mix of The Cars (awesome bassline for those of you with decent systems). There are dozens of other mixes and originals of theirs that you can check out on YouTube

• The Cars – Moving in Stereo (Valerna Remix) √++

• Silk – Freak Me (Valerna Remix) (Whoa, 90’s)

I love Louis La Roché! I’ve been following this kid for nearly 3 years now, back when he first released the funky “Peach EP” (I uploaded it below for those interested). It definitely sparked my interest in French House, which took my interest in nu-disco to a whole new level. Since then, it sounds like he’s refined his sound a bit from the original über-pop/funky style found in his early work.

• Ocelot – Beating Hearts (Louis La Roché Remix)

Realizing that I’ve only posted only a few of his songs, here are some of his other remixes I’ve yet to post.

Heads We Dance – My Heart Is Set On You (Louis La Roché Remix) √++

The Phantom’s Revene – Absolute Ego Riot (Louis La Roché Remix) (twangy)

Speaking of The Phantom’s Revenge…

The Phantom’s Revenge – Saturated Phat Impact (Esto! Remix)

…But I digress. Here’s the CD that got Louis La Roché on my radar (lot of Michael Jackson mixes on here, very funky)

Louis La Roché – The Peach EP (Full CD) [41MB]

¡Numero Cinquantuno!

This was supposed to be my Big 50th Post! But I chose to make one real quick the other night. So, here’s number 51! (technically 52…damn)

First up on the list is a Ke$ha remix that’s been boomin’ through my stereo the past few days! It’s an amped up club mix of “TiK ToK” that fans of the original might enjoy (if you care for electro/house that is). Props to Chedda Cheves on this one

Ke$ha vs. Rocco – Everybody TiK ToK (DJ Dumpz Mashup)

Drake dropped a line in The Villians’ bubbly remix of Lykke Li’s “Little Bit,” the result is a pretty tight track (I like the culmination of artists @ 4:50), thanks :DH

Lykke Li – Little Bit (Villains Remix feat Drake) [EPF Edit]

Ellie Goulding officially released her Lights CD last March and it’s pretty tight, I’m really feeling the refreshed “Wish I Stayed” track, it’s a nice change up from the original blog release version which is a lot more acoustic. You be the judge:

Ellie Goulding – Wish I Stayed

Ellie Goulding – Wish I Stayed (Demo)

Savoy keeps pumpin’ out new tracks, one of his more recent ones is a remix of Britney Spears’ “Piece Of Me” song into a pretty heavy thumping, club banging track with a sinister vibe (love them hi-NRG “haunting” tracks like these).

Savoy – Rich and Famous

I’ve have a raging, um, passion for The XX. This track is from way back in 09….light years in blogger universe. It’s a pretty basic 4-step downtempo sorta remix, but I love how easy it goes down.

The XX – Shelter (Them Jeans Drum Edit)

Cassette Kids reminds me a lot of No Doubt, especially singer, Gwen Stefani. Don’t let that discourage you though if it already has haha. The follow-up Diamond Cut remix bestows their recognizable sound, adding a nice touch of synths, electric guitar, and (slightly) suspenseful builds.

Cassette Kids – Lying Around

Cassette Kids – Lying Around (Diamond Cut Remix)

Passion Pit gets a lot of love on the blogs. I came across yet another “Sleepyhead” remix that takes the piece to a new level of ambience, it’s basically a synthed out rework of the intro with faded vocals.

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Cassette Club Remix)

Something for the nu-disco fans! Kavinsky (one who I had no idea made tracks capable of nu-disco remixes)

Kavinsky – Nightcall (Breakbot Remix)

…and The Twelves

The Twelves – Works For Me

Andrea has a new track out that sounds a lot like Aphex Twin’s (better) work, the piano is a beautiful touch to this enchanting melody.

Andrea – Snow Realms

I don’t usually listen to mixes like this (past the songs I like in the listings) but I really enjoyed the start of this piece, the drop into Alex Kidd’s “Digital Abyss (Club Mix)” is nothing short of epic! Download the full mix and a few individual tracks below. [Updated]

• Dada Life – Dada Life March 2010 Mix (Full CD) [48.5MB]
